Celebrations after receiving £240, 162 in NATIONAL LOTYTERY FUNDING

Apex Trust based in North Road, St Helens is celebrating today after being awarded £240,162 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

Apex Trust will use their funding to continue to offer specialist advice & guidance support to offenders and those at risk of offending within the community of St Helens, providing volunteering opportunities within Plan Bee – their community coffee shop, where individuals can gain skills and experience and be in a stronger position to move forward and gain employment.  The funding will also enable their social groups to continue which include their Women’s Hub and their Young at Heart group.

This new lottery funding will start on the 3rd April 2023.  Women’s Wellbeing activities will take place on Monday’s 10.00am – 12.00pm and Wednesday’s 10.00am – 12.00pm and is open to all women within St Helens.  The Young at Heart social group is for over 60’s which runs every Thursday – 10.00am – 12.30pm.  All of our groups are delivered at their base on North Road, St Helens.

National Lottery Players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK.  The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.

Kim Hughes, the charities CEO said: ‘’Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means we  that we can continue to provide social activities for all of our groups, bringing people together who may feel isolated, who suffer with mental health or have similar issues, ensuring they are in a welcome & safe environment. Also, to enable individuals to receive specialist advice & guidance support and volunteer within Plan Bee, our community coffee shop which launched in January 2020.  The funding from National Lottery means that we can continue to provide support within the community for the community for another 3 years.  This will make a big difference to people’s lives.’’

During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisation across the UK.
